OUR STORY

Once upon a time…

LGC owners Lori and Michelle met, became besties and opened their very own daycare center. 24 years later, they have helped raise hundreds of families. While this experience has led to countless joys, over their years in childcare, L&M have witnessed the increase in inflammatory responses children have to food. As toxins become more prevalent in our world, we’re beginning to see the effects of this in our bodies and in our children. Each generation is moving further away from gardening and cooking, yet, convenience food does not contain the nutrients necessary to sustain life in a vibrant manner.

L&M have been consulted by many families for direction in reducing reactive symptoms in children, leading them to further explore and develop their own passions in the health and wellness world. That said, Michelle’s guidance as a certified clinical herbalist and Lori’s valuable insights as a prize-winning powerlifter have helped countless families already. As a natural extension of nurturing these local families, here at the LGC, we provide resources necessary to teach healthy, lasting and affordable habits.

We increase confidence in the kitchen while lessening the symptoms of toxic overload and leaky gut syndrome.

When owners Lori and Michelle and their project manager, Sam, went looking for a kitchen to teach in, they noticed a clear demand for kitchen space for not only those who want to teach, but also for those who want to start their own food businesses. For L&M, as successful business owners, this gap in kitchen space became an incredible opportunity to pass on their expertise and support to budding, local entrepreneurs. All three women have been successful in creating a livelihood in an area that they are passionate about, and they look forward to providing both space and mentorship to people who are looking to do the same.

After all, owning a business and dictating your own schedule, rules, and life supports the idea of β€œlifestyle as medicine” as much as the foods we eat do.

Our Values

EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED

What you put into yourself reflects what you put out into the world, which in turn reflects what you will receive. From the edges of the universe to the blades of grass in your backyard, every little thing connects.

MEET PEOPLE WHERE THEY’RE AT

Our lives are focused on nurturing those around us. Through our range of businesses, our families, our personal interests and hobbies, and our values, we exist to tend the garden that is our community.

PLANT SEEDS & WATCH THEM BLOOM

No matter where you are on your health and wellness journey, we will meet you where you’re at. Everyones needs are individual, and everyones path is unique. Whatever yours is, we’ll help guide you along the way.

LIFESTYLE = MEDICINE

Mind, body, and soul-wellness are all balancing acts, both independently and together. When you begin to see yourself as a soul with a body, rather than a body with a soul, real change can begin.

  • The Lucky Gut Collective has a double meaning! On one hand, it's a play on words referring to "leaky gut syndrome," a condition where the lining of the gut becomes damaged, allowing partially digested food particles and toxins to leak into the bloodstream. Studies show that leaky gut may be surprisingly common, affecting everything from our communities digestive health to their mental health. At The LGC, we focus on gut health and healing from the inside out.

This is  where the "lucky" part comes in! We believe everyone deserves a chance to heal their gut and experience the health benefits that come with it.

But our name goes beyond β€œleaky gut.” Functioning as a collective eflects our core value of fostering a supportive community. We believe in working together with local entrepreneurs and wellness professionals to offer a comprehensive approach to gut and overall health. We're all on this journey together!

  • Imagine your gut as a bustling metropolis, teeming with trillions of tiny residents known as microbes. These microorganisms, predominantly bacteria but also including fungi and viruses, aren't just passive bystanders; they play a crucial role in numerous bodily functions, influencing everything from digestion and immunity to mood and chronic disease risk. This complex ecosystem is your gut microbiome and its health significantly impacts your overall well-being.

So, what exactly is gut health? It refers to the balance and diversity of these microbial residents. When the good bacteria thrive and outnumber the bad ones, your gut functions optimally, contributing to a healthier you. Conversely, an imbalance in the gut microbiome can lead to various health problems.

Why is gut health important at any age? Here are some key reasons:

    • Digestive Powerhouse: Microbes break down food into nutrients our bodies can absorb, ensuring we get the most out of our meals. This process also influences digestion speed and regularity, impacting gut comfort and overall health.

    • Immune Guardian: The gut houses a significant portion of your immune system. Healthy gut bacteria act as a barrier against harmful invaders, preventing infections and boosting your body's ability to fight off illness.

    • Nutrient Booster: Certain gut bacteria produce crucial vitamins like B12 and K, contributing to a healthy metabolism and various bodily functions.

    • Mood Regulator: Emerging research suggests a link between gut health and mental well-being. Some gut bacteria produce neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, which influence mood, stress regulation, and even sleep quality.

    • Chronic Disease Defense: While the research is still evolving, studies suggest a potential link between gut microbiome imbalances and chronic conditions like obesity, diabetes, and inflammatory bowel disease. Maintaining a healthy gut microbiome may contribute to reducing the risk of these conditions in the long run.

Understanding the importance of gut health empowers you to make informed choices about your diet, lifestyle, and potential interventions that may support a thriving gut ecosystem.

By prioritizing gut health at any age, you're investing in your long-term well-being and creating a foundation for a healthier, happier life.
